About Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 94-2707273) founded in 1980 to end impaired driving, support victims and survivors, and prevent underage drinking. MADD operates nationally through local offices, advocacy campaigns, education programs, and victim services.

MADD reports substantial national impact: since its founding it has helped reduce drunk driving deaths and, as of December 2023, reports nearly one million victims served and roughly 475,000 lives helped/saved through its combined prevention, advocacy, and technology efforts. In recent years MADD has focused on expanding The MADD Network, advancing anti-impaired-driving vehicle technology (the HALT goal), and strengthening ignition interlock policies and partnerships.
