About Other Minds

Other Minds is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 94-2728116) founded in 1993 that champions new, experimental, and underrepresented voices in contemporary music via an annual festival, commissions, recordings, radio programming, and public events. The organization emphasizes cross-cultural exchange and the American Experimental Tradition while fostering composer-to-audience dialogue.

In recent years Other Minds presented its 27th annual festival (November 14–19, 2023) and relaunched the Other Minds Archives (publicly launched January 26, 2024), making thousands of hours of interviews, broadcasts, recordings, photographs, and ephemera accessible online. The group also issues archival releases on Other Minds Records and partners with academic repositories to preserve physical collections for research and long-term access.
