About MODERN GREEK STUDIES FOUNDATION
The Modern Greek Studies Foundation (MGSF) is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in the early 1980s to advance Modern Greek language, literature, history and culture. Its activities include academic support (endowments and scholarships), public cultural programming, and the long-running San Francisco Greek Film Festival.
MGSF has established named funds and supported university programs and visiting scholars, and it acts as a sponsor and presenter for public events (including festival screenings, concerts, lectures and theatrical presentations) in partnership with academic institutions and the Consulate General of Greece. In recent years the foundation has continued to present the San Francisco Greek Film Festival and other thematic events and series, and has worked with regional university collections and programs to preserve and expand Modern Greek study resources.
The organization publicly lists its federal tax identification number as 94-2746473 and maintains an active web presence with program listings, donation channels, and news about recent festivals and public programs.
