About SAN FRANCISCO WOMEN AGAINST RAPE

San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR) is a long-established San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates a 24-hour crisis hotline, provides medical and legal advocacy, counseling and support groups, and conducts community prevention and training programs focused on sexual violence response and survivor support. The organization’s services emphasize confidential crisis intervention, accompaniment to medical and legal appointments, culturally responsive outreach, and training for volunteers and community partners.

In recent fiscal filings (fiscal year ending June 2024) SFWAR reported sustaining a multi-hundred-thousand-dollar annual budget and continued service volume: thousands of crisis contacts through its hotline, direct advocacy and counseling for hundreds of survivors, and outreach/education reaching many thousands of community members. SFWAR maintains active partnerships with local medical and municipal partners (including San Francisco’s Rape Treatment Center and city resource networks) and continues volunteer recruitment and training to meet multilingual and disability-access needs.
