About Acción Latina
Acción Latina is a San Francisco–based nonprofit cultural organization (EIN 94-3039956) that produces community media, public arts programming, and civic engagement initiatives focused on Latino communities in the Mission District and the greater Bay Area. Founded in 1970, the organization publishes El Tecolote, a free bilingual (English/Spanish) newspaper and digital news outlet with longstanding community reach.
Programs include bilingual community journalism (El Tecolote and Radio Teco), public cultural events and exhibitions (including Encuentro del Canto Popular and the Calle 24 Paseo Artistico), artist residencies and youth media training. In the last 2–3 years Acción Latina has sustained regular print and digital distribution, produced gallery and public arts programming, and secured philanthropic support to strengthen local journalism and arts work.
