San Francisco Clean City Coalition

San Francisco Clean City Coalition (SF Clean City) is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1991 that focuses on greening, beautifying, and maintaining public spaces while creating employment pathways for residents with barriers to work. The organization operates fee-for-service programs (landscape maintenance, power washing, graffiti abatement, murals, and event clean-up) alongside workforce training and re-entry services. In the last 2–3 years SF Clean City has run a city-funded tree-watering workforce program that maintained up to 2,800 street trees and provided paid training and employment to roughly 60 participants in 2023. Recent program reporting (July 2023–January 2024) documents participant supports including weekly employment-readiness workshops, advanced training in arboriculture and landscape maintenance, and job-placement outcomes (interviews and placements for program participants). The organization continues to deliver contracted streetscape and maintenance services for City departments and partner agencies while operating community beautification initiatives.
