About Tides Advocacy

Tides Advocacy (formerly The Advocacy Fund) is a national social-welfare advocacy organization that provides fiscal sponsorship, grantmaking, capacity building, and political strategy support to movement partners and BIPOC-led efforts. It is organized as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization rather than a 501(c)(3).

Founded in the 1990s and based in West Hollywood, CA, Tides Advocacy works with a broad network of fiscally sponsored projects and funds to mobilize communities, build political power, and influence policy across democracy, equality & human rights, health & the environment, and shared prosperity.

In the last 2–3 years the organization has emphasized a Pro-Black framework, expanded its fiscal sponsorship network, and published regular reporting and reflections on programmatic impact and strategy.
