About KEARNY STREET WORKSHOP INC

Founded in 1972, Kearny Street Workshop (KSW) is the oldest multidisciplinary Asian Pacific American arts nonprofit in the United States. The organization produces exhibitions, performances, readings, screenings, workshops, and festivals that center Asian Pacific American artists and histories. KSW operates as a community-facing arts incubator: it runs APAture (an annual multi-day festival for emerging API artists), offers internships and training in nonprofit arts administration, and stewards a significant archive documenting five decades of Asian American arts and activism. In recent years KSW has presented public-facing projects including the 2023 "Dreaming People’s History" exhibition and continued festival and program planning through 2024. KSW is an active, donor-facing 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 94-3207003) with an ongoing program calendar, public exhibitions, and partnerships with cultural institutions to make its archive and programs accessible to broader Bay Area audiences.
