About ARGONNE COUNCIL OF EMPOWERMENT

Argonne Council of Empowerment (dba Argonne PTO) is the parent-teacher organization supporting Argonne Elementary School in San Francisco. The organization raises funds and organizes volunteers to provide extracurricular programs, classroom support staff, enrichment activities, and school-wide events that serve the Argonne student body and families. The council operates as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (tax-exempt since 2000) and runs ongoing programs including the Argonne Chinese After-School Program (CASP), an Annual Giving Campaign, and recurring community events such as Spring Fair, Field Day and Pawpalooza. In recent years the PTO has continued active fundraising and programming (including events and parent-education series through 2024–2026) to support reading, writing, technology, smaller upper-grade classes, outdoor education and universal art supplies for students.

Notable achievements

Sustained schoolwide programming

Provides recurring enrichment and core supports—including reading/writing/technology staff, art supplies for every student, and funding for overnight and field trips—ensuring broad access to extracurricular learning for the school community.

Established Chinese After-School Program (CASP)

Continues to operate a longstanding, parent-run Mandarin after-school program that expands language and cultural opportunities for students and families.

Consistent donor-funded impact

Raised and managed annual donor revenue in the mid/hundreds-of-thousands range in recent fiscal years, enabling hiring of additional instructional support and funding of schoolwide events and enrichment.
