FIRST GRADUATE

First Graduate (EIN 94-3381171) is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) college-access and success organization that makes a long-term (typically 10–12 year) commitment to students who come from households without a college-going tradition. The organization recruits students beginning the summer after sixth grade and provides academic coaching, high school and college counseling, mentoring, career exploration, internships, and ongoing college persistence support. First Graduate embeds staff in partner schools and partners with local organizations (including summer program partners and community-based organizations) to provide a continuum of supports from middle school through college graduation and early career entry. Recent program innovations include expanded career-readiness programming for seniors and alumni (LaunchPad), strengthened internship pipelines, and growth in school partnerships within San Francisco. In the most recent impact reporting cycle (2023–24), First Graduate reported substantial outcomes for its cohort: strong college enrollment and completion metrics and year-over-year program growth, demonstrating measurable impact for first-generation college students in San Francisco.
