About Daughters of Hawai‘i

Founded in 1903, the Daughters of Hawai‘i is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history, culture, language and traditions of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i. The organization was established by women born in the Kingdom and continues to steward historic sites, place names, and cultural programs.

The Daughters operate and maintain two restored royal house museums — Hānaiakamalama (Queen Emma Summer Palace) in Nuʻuanu, Oʻahu, and Huliheʻe Palace in Kailua-Kona — and care for the marked birthplace of King Kamehameha III at Keauhou Bay. The organization offers public tours, school programs, cultural classes, community festivals, and membership and volunteer opportunities to support ongoing preservation and public education.
