SPECIAL EDUCATION CENTER OF HAWAII

Special Education Center of Hawaii (SECOH) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1965 that provides day services, habilitation, community integration, and job-readiness supports for people with intellectual, developmental, and acquired disabilities. SECOH operates multiple program sites including an administrative presence in Kapolei and maintains program campuses that deliver Adult Day Health, Pathways skills programming for young adults, community learning services, personal assistance habilitation, and respite. In recent years SECOH has focused on expanding capacity and services under the Hawaii Department of Health waiver framework (Waiver 2021–2026), including plans to renovate campus spaces to add life-skills training, independent employment supports, and additional Pathways program rooms. SECOH’s programs serve both older adults who require higher levels of care and younger adults transitioning out of the public school system, and the organization reports active waitlists for several services, demonstrating ongoing local demand.
