About KLINE-WELSH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FOUNDATION

KLINE-WELSH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FOUNDATION is the legal nonprofit that operates the Sand Island Treatment Center, a long-term residential treatment program in Honolulu established in the early 1960s. The Foundation focuses on adults with severe substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions who have often failed in shorter-term programs or are referred from the criminal justice system.

The organization provides a multi-year continuum of care combining residential housing, counseling, peer-led recovery support, vocational and life-skills training, and care coordination with public agencies. It is recognized locally and nationally for serving high-need, service-resistant populations and for maintaining accreditation and contracts with state and health partners to deliver residential addiction treatment at scale.
