HAWAII ALLIANCE FOR ARTS EDUCATION

Hawaiʻi Arts Alliance (doing business as Hawaii Alliance for Arts Education) is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Honolulu that serves as the State Captain for Americans for the Arts and a partner with the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA). It was founded around 1980 and has maintained tax-exempt status since the early 1980s. The Alliance runs arts-education programs (including Artists-in-the-Schools and the Art Bento partnership with the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum), supports teaching-artist professional development, provides community outreach (including afterschool work such as programs at Kahauiki Village), and conducts state-level advocacy on arts funding and legislation. The organization maintains an active web presence, publishes program news, and files annual Form 990s under EIN 99-0211535. In the past 2–3 years the Alliance continued in-school and afterschool arts programming, supported teacher and artist professional development, and led community advocacy campaigns during the state legislative sessions while partnering with local museums, the Department of Education, and community providers to expand access to arts learning for children across Oʻahu and the Neighbor Islands.
