About MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION OF HAWAII INC

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hawaii (Make-A-Wish Hawaii) is the Hawaii chapter of the Make-A-Wish network. The chapter’s work is focused on creating life-changing wishes for children (ages 2.5–18) facing critical illnesses across the Hawaiian Islands and coordinating wish travel for families who visit the state. Make-A-Wish Hawaii operates state-wide with a professional staff, a volunteer corps, and local corporate and community partners. The chapter maintains audited financial statements, files annual Form 990 returns, and reports that donations raised in Hawaiʻi stay in Hawaiʻi to support local wishes.

The chapter granted 73 wishes for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2024 (85 wishes in FY2023). The audited financial statements report an average total cost per wish in FY2024 of approximately $16,064 (cash and in-kind).

Decades of local impact

Operating since the early 1980s, Make-A-Wish Hawaii has granted more than 1,700 wishes for local keiki since its founding (serving all islands and coordinating visits from children worldwide).

The chapter routinely raises funds through corporate partnerships and special campaigns (examples include multi-year fundraising collaborations with local partners such as Maui Divers Jewelry and an annual gala and community events that support wish-granting).
