About HAWAII STATE COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

The Hawaiʻi State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (HSCADV) is a statewide, donor-facing nonprofit coalition that coordinates prevention, intervention, training, data collection, and public policy work to address domestic violence across the Hawaiian Islands. HSCADV serves as a hub for member programs, provides training and technical assistance, and publishes statewide data and research to inform practice and policy. HSCADV convenes community partners and service providers, runs statewide public awareness campaigns (including Domestic Violence Awareness Month programming), produces research and data products (including DV Counts and targeted needs assessments), and engages in policy advocacy to improve survivor safety and system responses in Hawaiʻi.

Notable achievements

Statewide DV Counts Census

Coordinated Hawaiʻi participation in the National Network to End Domestic Violence’s annual Domestic Violence Counts; recent counts documented hundreds of victims served in single-day snapshots (e.g., 579 victims in 2024, 581 in 2023), helping quantify service needs and gaps statewide.

Recent Statewide Research Reports

Published and/or hosted major research and needs-assessment products in the last 2–3 years, including a May 2024 prevalence and barriers report ('Scars on the Heart') and an October 2024 needs assessment focused on Native Hawaiian and Filipino survivors, to guide culturally informed services and policy recommendations.

Large-scale Public Awareness & Training

Organized statewide Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities, public vigils, webinars, and multi-island trainings and conferences that increased public visibility and professional capacity across Hawaiʻi.
