NAMI Hawaii is dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals and families affected by mental illnesses, through support, education, advocacy, and awareness. We serve our community by empowering people to confront the profound injustices brought by serious mental illnesses. Through the strategic plan, we chart a course to meaningful systems change and the path to recovery.

About NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS HAWAII

NAMI Hawaii is the state organization of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and operates a statewide affiliate network (Oʻahu, Maui, Kauaʻi and Big Island) delivering peer-led support groups, evidence-based education (Family-to-Family, Peer-to-Peer, Hearts & Minds, Ending the Silence, etc.), public education, and community advocacy. The organization focuses on supporting people living with mental health conditions and their families, reducing stigma, and strengthening crisis response systems across the islands. In recent years NAMI Hawaii has been active statewide in community outreach and systems change work, including coordinating Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) education with local law enforcement, running multi-island NAMIWalks fundraising events, and delivering free classes and support groups. CIT training coordination & impact

Played a statewide leadership role coordinating Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) efforts in Hawaii, supporting Honolulu and Hawaii County CIT programs and contributing to the training and certification of hundreds of law enforcement officers to improve crisis responses.

Delivered NAMI signature, evidence-based programs (Family-to-Family, Peer-to-Peer, Hearts & Minds, Ending the Silence and related youth and caregiver courses) across Hawaii through trained volunteer instructors and peer leaders.
