About HEALTHY MOTHERS HEALTHY BABIES COALITION OF HAWAII

Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawaii (HMHB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Honolulu that delivers clinical services, perinatal supports, education, and community outreach across the Hawaiian Islands. The organization operates programs spanning reproductive and primary care, perinatal mental health, lactation support, safe-sleep education, community-based doula services, and emergency resource distribution. In recent years HMHB has expanded from a maternal-and-infant focus to offer wraparound services for individuals and families at multiple life stages while centering health equity and culturally grounded practices for Native Hawaiian and other BIPOC communities. HMHB also administers statewide ParentLine services and runs mobile/pop-up clinics, community outreach, and partnerships with local funders and government agencies to reach rural and high-need areas.

Notable achievements

Wide client reach and service volume

Served more than 5,000 clients through programs and provided over 1,200 clinical encounters and 1,700 average monthly telehealth/call sessions in recent reporting, demonstrating sustained community reach across the islands.

Community-based doula program scale-up

Delivered more than 2,400 hours of doula support and expanded its Community-Based Doula Program to increase access to culturally attuned birth and postpartum support, including subsidized and scholarship-supported placements.

Launch of Mana Mama and expanded island services

Launched the Mana Mama initiative and expanded mobile clinic and wraparound services (including food distribution, safe-sleep education, lactation support, and mental health referrals) to better serve Native Hawaiian families and other high-need communities in the last 2–3 years.
