Our mission is to steward America’s World War II aviation battlefield – sharing the artifacts, personal stories, the impact and response to the attack on December 7, 1941 and the Pacific region battles that followed – and to honor those who have defended our freedom so we might educate and inspire future generations.

About PEARL HARBOR AVIATION MUSEUM

Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit museum located on historic Ford Island in Honolulu that interprets America’s World War II aviation battlefield through its collection of aircraft, hangar exhibits, the Ford Island control tower, artifacts, films, and first-person stories. The Museum operates in original WWII hangars and offers tower tours, interactive experiences, flight simulators, and formal education programs. In recent years the Museum has expanded its education and stewardship work — hosting national touring exhibits, growing an endowed scholarship program that awards aviation training grants, and launching the multi‑phase "Remember Pearl Harbor" capital campaign (announced December 7, 2025) to restore Hangar 79, expand exhibition spaces, and increase aircraft restoration and archival conservation. The Museum continues to serve broad public audiences while running targeted school- and youth-facing programs and aviation pathways scholarships to inspire future aviators and preservation professionals.

Notable achievements

Remember Pearl Harbor Campaign Launch (2025)

Launched a national $51 million capital campaign on December 7, 2025 to renovate historic Hangar 79, expand exhibition experiences, fund aircraft restoration and archives preservation, and grow the Museum’s endowment for long‑term education impact.

Hosted national touring exhibition (2024)

Served as the third stop for the national touring exhibition 'The Walt Disney Studios and World War II' in 2024; the show attracted thousands of visitors during its run and strengthened the Museum’s profile for large traveling exhibitions.

Established and expanded scholarship program (2023–2026)

Operates the For Love of Country Educational Endowment and related scholarship awards; in recent cycles the Museum awarded multiple aviation scholarships (dozens of recipients across 2023–2026) to support pilot training and aviation careers.
