About ALOHA HARVEST
Aloha Harvest is an Oʻahu-based 501(c)(3) food rescue and redistribution organization founded in 1999. It collects quality excess food from wholesalers, grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, farms and events and delivers it same-day, free of charge, to social service agencies that prepare or distribute meals for people in need. Aloha Harvest operates as a collaborator with local food banks and hundreds of recipient agencies and donors across Oʻahu. In recent years the organization has published quarterly impact reports and reported program-scale results showing multi-million-pound annual redistributions and a multi-decade cumulative rescue total.
Notable achievements
Decades-long cumulative rescue
Since its founding in 1999 Aloha Harvest has rescued and redistributed more than 38 million pounds of quality food that would otherwise have entered the waste stream.
Recent annual scale (2024)
In 2024 Aloha Harvest redistributed over 3 million pounds of food collected from 468 food donors and delivered it to 146 recipient agencies including homeless shelters, food pantries, veterans services and social service programs.
Established Oʻahu food-rescue network
Aloha Harvest built and maintains a large same-day pickup and delivery network on Oʻahu (drivers operate seven days a week), positioning the organization as the island’s largest food rescue and redistribution service.
