SAVE THE SEA TURTLES INTERNATIONAL

Save The Sea Turtles International (SSTI) is a Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) conservation nonprofit focused on direct-action marine protection: removing abandoned fishing line and gear from reefs, rescuing entangled marine animals, running beach and reef cleanups, and delivering education programs. The organization traces its origin to 1988 and operates in partnership with One Ocean Conservation / One Ocean Diving to deliver trained diver responses and public outreach. SSTI operates active field programs in Hawaiʻi and projects in other regions (including Florida and international partner sites). In recent years the group has published an impact report (updated April 1, 2025), continued regular reef entanglement removal and beach-cleaning operations, and mobilized response teams for local disaster-related debris removal (including community cleanup efforts following Hawaiʻi flooding in 2026). The organization maintains a public web presence with donation options and program descriptions, files annual Form 990 information (publicly indexed), and is positioned as an operational, donor-facing charity that leverages volunteer crews, trained divers, and media/education to reduce entanglement and debris-related harm to marine wildlife.
