About Museum of Denver
The Museum of Denver is a recently formed nonprofit initiative working to create a dedicated city history museum for Denver that centers equity, community storytelling, and inclusive public history. Organizing began in 2023 and the initiative has since assembled a volunteer organizing committee and a nonprofit board with civic leaders, historians, and community partners.
The organization aims to develop a permanent museum (supporters have targeted the McNichols Building on Civic Center Park), produce pop-up and temporary exhibits while fundraising, and build programs serving students, neighborhoods, and visitors across the Denver region.
In public reporting during 2024–2025 the Museum of Denver announced it secured nonprofit (501(c)(3)) recognition and completed a fundraising feasibility process with professional consultants while continuing outreach to city decision-makers, former mayors, cultural partners, and neighborhood groups.
