Founding Partners Launch Phase
Build the national home for mental health civil rights—platform, stories, convening, and the infrastructure to scale.
Description
This $500,000 campaign will turn The Good Life Movement from an idea into a visible, operating national movement for mental health civil rights—at the moment cultural readiness and bipartisan concern are converging, and crisis-only responses are increasingly seen as failing. This six-month Launch Phase is designed as catalytic, founding capital that establishes the organized infrastructure needed to accelerate a six-year roadmap toward a flagship federal civil rights bill, the Life, Liberty & Pursuit of Happiness Act.
The campaign will stand up core movement infrastructure across Rights & Policy, People & Power, Culture & Narrative, and Practice & Proof. It will launch a national Story + Evidence Engine, including the Rights Diary intake platform and weekly story production, begin nationwide listening circles coordinated with state chapter leads, and convene the inaugural Mental Health Civil Rights Event as the movement’s public “coming-out.”
Founding Partners fund complete, visible pieces of the launch through five tiers, with recognition and strategic access aligned to the formative stage. Donor leadership will help establish durable systems, staff, partners, and public presence—positioning GLM to scale into the Year-One Foundation phase.
Why This Moment Matters
This campaign matters now because four conditions have converged: post-pandemic clarity that mental health is central to national well-being, rising bipartisan concern about youth and workforce outcomes, growing recognition that crisis-only responses are failing, and cultural readiness for a rights-based framework. The audience exists—what’s missing is organized infrastructure to turn that readiness into durable civil-rights protections and accountability.
Waiting carries compounding costs. GLM’s Launch Phase is designed as catalytic, founding capital: a six-month push that turns the movement from an idea into a working organization with the systems, staff, stories, partners, and public presence needed to accelerate the six-year roadmap toward a flagship federal civil rights bill (the Life, Liberty & Pursuit of Happiness Act). Delaying this build-out materially extends the timeline to the $1.5M Year-One Foundation phase and pushes the broader policy arc further out.
What This Campaign Can Unlock
If the Launch Phase succeeds, mental health civil rights moves from concept to visible, operating movement infrastructure—across Rights & Policy, People & Power, Culture & Narrative, and Practice & Proof. GLM will stand up a national Story + Evidence Engine (including the Rights Diary intake platform and weekly story production), begin nationwide listening circles, and convene the inaugural Mental Health Civil Rights Event as the movement’s public “coming-out.”
This unlocks what does not exist today: a unifying civil-rights framework that allows existing mental health organizations’ work to compound, a live national pipeline of documented lived-experience rights violations that can feed both narrative and policy, and an annual flagship convening that becomes a recurring gravitational center for a starter coalition. In GLM’s framing, it is the moment the organization becomes the emerging national home for mental health civil rights and is positioned to scale into the $1.5M Year-One Foundation phase.
What This Campaign Delivers
Over the six-month Launch Phase, the campaign will deliver concrete build-and-launch outcomes: a Rights Diary platform and CRM live as a national digital intake system for lived-experience stories (tagged by rights category); listening circles running nationwide in coordination with state chapter leads; and regular story production that turns raw submissions into shareable, media-ready content with weekly releases.
It will also deliver movement-facing milestones: the inaugural Mental Health Civil Rights Event convened with the founding coalition and advisors, and the initial paid capacity to execute (Executive Director, development, communications, and finance/operations) alongside the compliance and technology backbone required for a 501(c)(3)/(c)(4) hybrid.
GLM will track and report progress through operational milestones tied to these deliverables—platform launch and usage (including Rights Diary submissions), the cadence of story releases, the execution of listening circles, and the successful delivery of the inaugural event—along with staffing and infrastructure stood up to support the next phase of growth.
Partnership Opportunity
Partnership is structured as founding capital in five tiers ($25K–$250K), each funding a complete, visible piece of the launch: $25K Tech Backbone (secure operations, technology, and compliance infrastructure); $50K Story Engine (Rights Diary plus original video/design/editorial production); $75K Community & Events (listening circles and the inaugural Mental Health Civil Rights Event); $100K Voice of the Movement (public awareness via digital advertising, press, and event campaigns); and $250K Founding Leadership (dedicated leadership across fundraising, communications, operations, and partnerships).
Recognition and engagement are designed to match the “founding” nature of the phase. Founding Partners are recognized as architects of the movement’s foundation, with strategic access and insight during formative stages and long-term impact attribution as the framework scales. The $75K Community & Events tier includes naming rights on the inaugural Mental Health Civil Rights Event, and higher tiers come with deeper involvement in shaping the organization as it becomes the national home for mental health civil rights.
